It’s no surprise that, when many people plan their trip to Bali, they decide to stay in Seminyak. The main reason is simple: Seminyak is without doubt one of the most vibrant and exciting and yet peaceful and spiritual places on the entire island.
Once just a quiet village surrounded by rice fields, Seminyak is now an exciting, trendy and stylish hub for all the best shopping, surfing, eating and fashion. Full of the best night spots, beach clubs and brilliant villas like Mayaloka, there is never a shortage of things to do in Seminyak.
Here are five of our favourite things to do in Seminyak:
1. Surf at sunset
We can’t compile a ‘things to do in Seminyak’ post without mentioning the spectacular surf or the stunning sunsets – put them together and it’s the iconic Seminyak moment.
Seminyak Beach is just as golden and beautiful as the one at Kuta but not nearly as crowded, and if a long board isn’t your thing, you may prefer to lie back with a cool beer on a rented sun lounger.
2. Check out a temple
If taking in a true Seminyak attraction is something you want to do, you can’t leave without seeing Pura Petitenget, Seminyak’s own sea temple. You can find five other sea temples throughout Bali, but Petitenget means ‘magic box’ – named after a 16th century priest who regularly visited this Seminyak site with, you guessed it, his magic box!
Another important Seminyak temple is Pura Masceti. It was used by local farmers to pray for rain and the end of insect infestations.
3. Do some Seminyak shopping
We can’t mention Seminyak without recommending the amazing shopping, and one of the best shopping strips in all of Bali is Jalan Laksmana.
From local designers and indie stores to the biggest fashion brands and everything in between, Jalan Laksmana is a one kilometre treasure trove of Bali shopping paradise that caters for every taste and budget.
4.Get a massage in one of Bali’s best spas
A trip to Bali may be the ultimate relaxing getaway, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go the extra mile to really pamper yourself.
Luckily, for an unprecedented massage, manicure or facial, Seminyak boasts plenty of unforgettable spas to choose from, including last year’s World Spa Awards winner Spring Spa. Or perhaps Prana Spa sounds more your cup of tea, where you can get a massage and then pop upstairs for a quick yoga sesh.
5. Eat some world class food
If you would prefer your taste buds had the fun and adventure, there are dozens of exotic, world-class and totally one of a kind places to eat in Seminyak. At La Laguna, you won’t be able to put your camera down amid the array of colourful caravans. At Nook Bali, you can sit down with your coffee or meal and look out at the beautiful rice fields.
Or you could kick into the evening at La Favela, where the restaurant with a tropical theme turns into a wild nightspot once the sun goes down.
So many things to do in Seminyak
In reality, there is almost no list long enough to encapsulate everything you could do in Seminyak during your stay in this stunning part of Bali.
Visit a gothic church or an art gallery, enjoy a relaxing spa, massage or yoga session, go horse riding or scuba diving or just chill out at a beach club – you can do it all while you are staying in your beautiful Mayaloka villa in Seminyak.
